The people I thought were bad — were they really? Groosham Grange 2 books. Groosham Grange follows three misfits, David, Jill, and Jeffrey as they arrive at their new boarding school on Skrull Island where they are forced to sign a book in their own blood; the teachers seem to be werewolves, vampires, and witches; and all the other pupils are oddly well behaved, wear the same mysterious ring, and disappear at night.

I would have never thought that they were doing an experiment in black magic and it failed creating the ‘creature’ they are now. He has enjoyed huge success as a writer for both children and adults, most recently with the latest adventure in the Alex Rider series, Russian Roulette ,and the highly grangs Sherlock Holmes novels The House of Silk and Moriarty.
Always check the book for any safety warnings before giving to a child. But at the end, goosham models from Madame Tussauds attack him and he loses the statuette.
